The Kilvei Feast of the Chukchi and Koryak
The Feasts of reconciliation with nature of the Chavchuven (reindeer herding Koryak) and Chukchi living inland are above all dedicated to the fertility of the reindeer herds, as the reindeer provide their basic livelihood. The sequences of this feast have been described in the article Versöhnungsfeste mit der Natur im Nordosten Sibiriens. The Kilvei Feast held in Achaivaiam in 2013 was recorded with explanations by participants. The book and DVD of this comprehensive documentation are forthcoming.
