Travelling with Steffen Bohl through the UNESCO word heritage site in Kamchatka

The slide shows that are presented here offer views of the spectatular landscapes of Kamchatka in Russia’s Far East, which are characterized by active volcanoes and a great diversity of flora and fauna. Apart from many different plants, the salmon moving upstream during different periods of the year represent a substantial source of food for rare species of birds and the large population of bears.

Steffen Bohl is an ecologist and director of a natural park in Brandenburg. He has been traveling to Kamchatka for many years, doing voluntary work there for the UNESCO world heritage site. His expertise, environmental engagement and keen photographic eye have produced this unique documentation. The photographs are copyright of the photographer (©Steffen Bohl). Any queries concerning their reproduction are to be sent to the following address: foto_projection@gmx.de.

The slide show is accompanied by recordings of songs and modern compositions by Itelmen, Koryak and Even interpreting nature in their way. They were recorded among the indigenous peoples of Kamchatka by Erich Kasten.
