During the 33rd International Abashiri Symposium at the Hokkaido Museum for Northern Peoples, Erich Kasten presented the underlying concepts of the Foundation of Siberian Cultures’ initiative Digital Humanities of the North. In his presentation Sharing Cultural Concepts and Practices Through Advanced Digitization: Towards Multifunctional Archives and Interfaces for Multiple Audiences he talked notably about the connecting of digitized museum collections and corresponding video documentation in cooperation with indigenous communities by showing examples of his own recordings of Even craftsmanship from Kamchatka. One of the outcomes of the symposium was the decision to intensify cooperation between the Foundation of Siberian Cultures and the Hokkaido Museum for Northern Peoples.
