Workshop on folklore and art traditions of indigenous peoples in Kamchatka
Aleksandra Urkachan and Erich Kasten organized the workshop Fol’klor i khudozhestvennoe tvorchestvo narodov Severa Kamchatki (Folklore and cultural traditions of peoples of Kamchatka) at the Dom kul’tury in Ossora, Kamchatka, April 15-18, 2008. After some lectures and film screenings, the methodology of documenting folklore material was discussed. Ethnographic objects from the local museum were presented and commented upon. A special theme was dedicated to the songs of families, workshops with dancing groups and their final performance.
The results were published in the edited volume Sokhranenie i vozrozhdenie traditsionnykh obriadovykh prazdnikov u beregovykh koriakov (nymylanov).
